A traditional recipes of our family which tastes delicious and prepare in quick.The combination of pumpkin flower and bamboo shoot with tangy mustard flavor makes the dish more rich and mouth watering.It goes well with roti,paratha or steamed rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 12 to 15 pumpkin flowers
  • 200 g bamboo shoots (sliced into julienne)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 to 3 green chilies
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 small tomato

making curry paste

  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 onion
  • 5 to 6 garlic cloves
  • 1//2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 to 5 cloves

make a fine paste of the above ingredients

LETS PREPARE STEP BY STEP THE RECIPE

STEP 1

  • Cut bamboo shoots into  julienne or small strips .But now a days in some market its available in ready made.Sellers sliced into different shapes..
  • You need to rinse them and warm in 1 cup of water with adding some salt for 10 minutes.Now discard  water and rinse them in cold water for 4 to 5  times.It will help to reduce the tinny taste so drain it thoroughly.

STEP 2

  •  Remove stems of pumpkin flowers.

STEP 3

Now chop them into stripes.

STEP 4

  • In a pan heat 2 tsp oil,add mustard seeds when they splutter add shallots and saute it.

STEP 5

  • Now add prepared paste Fry them until the raw smell of the masala goes off.

STEP 6

  • Now add  bamboo shoots.mix them well.

STEP 7

  • Add tomatoes and fry for  5 to 6 minutes

STEP 8

  • Add pumpkin flowers and saute it.

STEP 9

  • Now add 1/2 cup of water,salt and cook on medium flame for 6 to 7 minutes.

STEP 10

  • Now off the heat and garnish with coriander leaves.
