It is a dish  of which once you put in mouth you will feel the juicy fish and mild spiciness of pepper.One of the best dish for kids.Also people who love to eat fish but avoid for it’s bone .

It can be your one of the best party snack..

Preparing finger fish you always need to choose a fresh  and best fish.I have used our local market rahu(labeo rohita) fish which is a river fish.You can ask the fish monger to cut the fish into stripe.If you are lucky and the fish monger not busy then you can easily get  the striped fish pieces else you have to come to home and cut into stripe.

While cutting choose the boneless side and cut into slightly thick.

Now marinate fish with some salt and pinch of turmeric for 30 minutes.Then discard the marinade water and keep the fishes dry.

In a small mixing bowl beat egg,salt,pepper,oregano and mix until smooth.

Place crumble corn flakes in a shallow plate and keep aside.

Those who are not willing to eat egg with fish then you can use refined flour batter.


Add garlic powder to the cornstarch. Tap fish on it and shake to remove excess starch.


Crumble cereal(corn flakes) and coat fish with cereal.Keep aside/refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Then deep fry them in hot oil and serve hot.

It goes well with mayo/sauce/chutney or serve as it is.

things we need to prepare..

  • 9 to 10 pieces of boneless fish(slice into stripe)
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 cup corn flex/bread crumbs/crushed poha
  • salt
  • oil

Egg batter(method 1)

  • 1 egg
  • 1 crushed pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • salt

Pour all in a  bowl and whisk evenly.

Re find flour batter (method 2)

  • 2 tsp refined flour
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp oil
  • water
  • salt

Mix all in a bowl and add some water to prepare a slightly thick mixture


Clean and rinse fishes pieces.Marinate them in a bowl with adding little salt and lemon juice for 30 minutes.

Now discard the water from marinade fishes and keep them dry.

In a bowl mix cornstarch,garlic powder and mix them well.

Whisk egg smoothly with all ingredients for batter and keep them a side.

Now pat fish finger in cornstarch,dip in egg batter and catted generously in crumble cereal.Do the same for rest of the fishes.Rest costed fishes in refrigerator for 10 to 15 mins.

Heat oil in a pan and deep fry them till golden in colour. Soak in a kitchen paper  and serve with any sauce/chutney.
