Fish ball is a perfect snack for those who would like to eat but scared of sucking fish thorn their throat. This a less spicy, thorns less and pair with veggies inside will be one of the best snack for adults and kids as well.
Well there is no need for any chutney or sauce to pair off only fruit salsa can be enough to eat with.
This recipe is quite help full for my kid ,she doesn’t like fish because of thorn inside. But she loves fish balls making sandwich.
I used rohu fish(local river fish),some one can use their own fish also.
Marinate them with slight turmeric and salt for 15 minutes.Discard water will help to reduce the odor of fish. Now in a pot take enough water and drop fish pieces, boil them on medium flame until fish pieces are get soft.
Off the gas and separate their thorn carefully..Use fork or your finger to check thorns. This process is little laborious, once you separate the bones, mash the meat of the fish .keep them in a plate.
Another method you can use fish which has no bone or less bone.Else can use fish fillets.Only need to boil and separate skin and mash the meat
Meanwhile take poppy seeds(khus khus) and soak them with cumin seeds and green chilies for half an hour.Use less water to soak the khus khus else it will make the mixture thin.
Make a fine paste of the soaked khus khus along with small onion and cloves.I have used very less spices here.
I used grated cauliflower,no idea how will it go with fish.Though love to experiment with food, both the combination was really turned out lip smacking. Also useful for kids who don’t want to eat vegetables.
In a bowl mix fish, grated cauliflower, ground paste, and some salt.I sprinkle some oregano, you can use your choice of seasoning.
The mixture texture is slightly thin,so you can add cornstarch.
Crush corn flakes using your hand or spoon..Coat balls on crushed corn flakes.
Then coat the balls with crushed corn flakes in your hands for 3 to 4 times .Sit them for some 5 to 10 minutes.Meanwhile heat oil in a shallow pan or a wok.
i always use less oil for frying any non vegetarian dish.My mother doesn’t allow to waste oil, because in my family we dont eat non vegetarian food every day.So instead of wasting oil mom allows to use less oil, which should be finished on the same day.
But if you dont have such restriction you can use enough oil and fry balls until golden brown and cook nicely.
Drain them in a paper towel and move to plate.
Serve them with any fruit salsa or can be eat as it is.I am sure this is one of the culinary you must be shown to any die hard fish lover and appreciate from them.
