A delicacy from my mother’s kitchen which she specially prepared in festive time.I love it for it’s eye catching texture and enjoyable taste.Relish your celebration with your loved ones preparing a side dish of this delectable sweet dish.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 g yellow mung dal ( split skinned mung lentils)
  • 4 to 5 tsp semolina
  • 5 to 7 cardamom
  • 250 g sugar
  • pinch of baking soda
  • 250 ml water
  • salt

STEP BY STEP PREPARATION

STEP 1

  • Soak lentils over night or 6 to 7 hours.
  • Now rinse them.Now blend lentils,salt and 5 cardamoms , with out water or very little water.
  • Boil one cup of water in pan.

STEP 2

  • Stir it until it soaks all the water.

STEP 3

  • Mix soda,semolina and knead to make a soft dough.

STEP 4

  • Now make small balls and give them different shapes as you like.

STEP 5

  • In  a pot mix together water,sugar,crushed cardamom.Boil on medium flame until get a sticky consistency.
  •    If you get one string consistency then add some water,boil  for some seconds.Off the gas and keep the pot aside.

STEP 6

  • Heat oil in a wok,deep fry all the moong dal balls.

STEP 7

  • Discard the excess oil in an absorbent paper and drop in sugar syrup quickly.
  • It will take 2 to 3 hours to soak the balls and enjoy the sweet delicacy of home made sweets.
