The combination of semolina and sugar are always delicious. Suji halwa is our traditional dessert which you must find in most of the Indian festivals to offering god. My mother cooks this on every weekends to enjoy our Sundays. 

Let’s come to our recipe which is quite different from others here I am going to share my mother’s old recipe jeera suji ka halwa. Not only taste but yes the aroma of the halwa craving your appetite

 

INGREDIENTS

· 1 cup semolina (suji)

· 1 tbsp. ghee

· 10 tsp. sugar

· 3 cups water

· 1 tbsp milk

· ½ tsp. cumin seeds

· ¼ tsp. turmeric

· Elaichi powder (cardamom)

· Dry fruits

HOW TO COOK THE DISH

STEP 1

In a heavy pan add semolina with turmeric and ½ tsp. of ghee.

Fry semolina on lower flame until nice aroma come out. It takes 15 minutes.

Stir fry frequently to avoid to burn the semolina.

Here the semolina will be cooked slowly on lower flame.so need to stir frequently

Now remove it and keep in a plate

STEP 2

In a pan heat 2 tsp ghee, pepper, cumin seeds when they start to crackle pour water.

When water start to boil, add milk, sugar, pinch of salt

STEP 3

Now pour the semolina slow by slow and keep stirring to avoid lumps.

STEP 4

Now allow it’s to cook for 5 minutes and off the gas.

The halwa should be in thick consistency.

Add rest of the ghee, illachi powder and mix it nicely.

Garnish with dry fruits and serve hot.
