THINGS WE NEED TO PREPARE·

  •  250g chicken pieces
  • 2 to 3 potatoes
  • 1 to 2  tomatoes(seeded,sliced)
  •  Turmeric powder
  • 1 onion
  •  1 tsp chili powder ( optional)
  • dash of sugar
  • 1 Bay leaf
  •  1 tsp curd
  •  1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • Mustard oil
  • Water
  • Salt

preparing masala:

  • 2 onions
  •  1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 dried red chilies
  •  6 to 7 garlic cloves
  • 2 to 3 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

In a blender blend these ingredients to a fine and smooth paste.

STEP BY STEP PHOTOS FOR THE RECIPE PREPARATION…

STEP 1

  •  Rinse chicken pieces and marinate  with curd ,1 tsp. salt,1/2 tsp turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
  • Slice potatoes into halves without peeling it’s skin.Here i have used small potatoes..If you use big/medium size potatoes then slice into cubes.Rinse them and keep a side.
  •  Heat 3 tsp. oil in a kadai on high flame and add chicken pieces .Fry them for 5 to 7 minutes over medium flame until all  the water from chicken pieces get absorbed or chicken get soft. Drain it on plate and keep aside.
  • In the same oil fry potatoes until light brown and absorb in a paper towel.
  • Using mustard oil for chicken gives nice flavor to the curry.So whenever you use mustard oil,first let the oil hot and allow to smoke.It will reduce the bitterness of mustard oil.

STEP 2

  • Again heat 2 tsp. of oil in a kadai. Add cinnamon, pinch of sugar, bay leaf.

STEP 3

  • When sugar caramelized, add prepared paste into it.

STEP 4

  • Fry for 6 to 7 minutes until the raw smell of masala goes off.

  •  Add chicken pieces,potatoes, chili powder and mix  thoroughly.Fry the chicken pieces on medium flame. It will take 10 minutes to get nice aroma

  • Now add sliced cut tomatoes. Add coriander powder and sauté until tomatoes get cooked.
  • Keep frying the chicken for 5 minutes. Add little bit of water if required.

  • Add one and half cup of water with salt. High the flame until chicken get boiled then cook on medium flame till chicken get soft and the gravy get thick consistency.
  • .Now off the gas and serve chicken with  roti/steamed rice.
