Fish masala fry is a very simple and mouth watering dish.Here i have used a fresh water fish pohala,a local fish commonly available in odisha’s fish market. well while cooking fish masala fry,fish and the masala are two main ingredients.The aroma of the masala with good selection of fish always boost someones appetite. Here i am going to share with you.. 

INGREDIENTS

    • 3 Small size fishes(i used pohala fishes,you can use any river fish which you like )
    • 2 green chilies
    • 1 tsp garam masala
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 1 tsp gram flour/ Besan
  • 2 tsp rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Mustard oil
  • Salt

making paste

  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

HOW TO PREPARE THE RECIPE

STEP 1

clean all the fishes nicely. Marinate the fishes by adding some salt, pinch of turmeric for 10 minutes.

Drain off the excess water after marination.

STEP 2 

Make a thick paste  from the above given ingredients and add garam masala, sliced green chilies, chili powder, turmeric ,1 tsp oil ,salt ,add little bit of water. keep the masala for 15 minutes.

STEP 3

Heat a wok with ½ cup of mustard oil. once the oil became just hot enough, place the fish in the oil and deep fry on medium heat .

STEP 4

Drain it on absorbent paper when the fishes get cool, add one fish into the prepared paste .make sure paste should be coated both the side of the fish. do the same for rest of the fishes.

STEP 5

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan. spread oil evenly over the pan.

STEP 6

place fishes on pan. Fry both side on medium heat. cook it until the coated masala get crunchy on both side

Garnish with green salads. serve hot with steamed rice.
