Hey this is my another experimented dish of  soy,which turned out really amazing. After prepared soybean poda pitha i have some left over of soy bean paste .I thought to mix it with any batter but later realized that  its consistency get slightly thick after stored in refrigerator.

While preparing doughnut i was sure my daughter will never eat because its made out of soy. When coated with chocolates and decorated it, my daughter who was a chocolate princess of mine,she got the smell and asked me to have a bite.

I was expecting that she will refuse it after one byte.But  she ate the full doughnut without any drama.I just asked ” did u like ?she said yes , its little different from the traditional doughnut  but yes its tasty.”

I made around 6 doughnuts and she ate 3 from them.Really when i was chasing her to taste the food she wasn’t. But this time she made my day and i got my reward.

Preparing soy doughnut is quite easy and quick also.You need to soak soy bean seeds for whole night or 9 to 10 hours.

Rinse and discard all the water.While blending use less water and form a thick mixture.I know its little laborious but blend in small batches will help you to get smooth paste in less time.

Unlike traditional doughnut i have used baking powder instead of yeast.And add 6 to 7 tsp refined flour along with salt,sugar and mix to form a dough.Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.

Once take out from refrigerator, knead the dough.Its little sticky unlike traditional doughnut dough.So i suggest you to use refined flour while kneading .

Prepare medium balls out of the dough.if the dough is sticking to your hand then don’t worry,use some flour on your palm and prepare balls.

Flat them slight in your palm and shape into doughnut. Keep them on a dusting plate.

Refrigerate all the doughnuts for 15 to 20 minutes to set.

Now heat oil in a shallow pan or wok.Take out doughnuts from refrigerator,set them for 5 minutes. Fry one by one until golden brown both the sides over medium flame.

Don’t over cook or high temperature to fry the doughnut ,it will crack the doughnuts.These dough nuts are little delicate but workable ,so carefully place them in hot oil.

Drain on paper towel and move at once to the plate.

Break the chocolate into pieces and put it into  the top of a double boiler. Set this over a pan of gently simmering water, making sure the bowl or boiler doesn’t touch the water. Next, heat the chocolate very gently until it starts to melt ,add butter into it, then stir regularly until completely melted.

Dip each doughnut into melted chocolate.Sprinkle white chocolate chips or other topping of your choice.

things we nee to prepare

  • 200 g soy bean seeds
  • 5 to 6 tsp refined flour
  • 1 /2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder(1 tsp vanilla essence can be used)
  • salt
  • 1/2 cup dark melted chocolate 
  • white chocolate chips( for garnishing..)

Soak soybean seeds in enough water around 9 to 10 hours.Rinse and discard water.

Blend seeds with very less water ,the mixture should be thick consistency.Keep them in a bowl.

In a large bowl mix refined flour,salt,sugar and blended soy mixture.. Refrigerate it for 2 hours.

Take them out,knead it again and you can add little more refined flour while kneading the dough.


Make medium balls and flat them to doughnut shape.Keep the doughnuts on a dusted plate. Refrigerate doughnuts for 15 to 20 minutes.

Take them out ,heat oil and fry them until golden brown both the sides  of the doughnuts.


Break and melt chocolates on the top of a double boiler.Heat chocolates gently until it starts to melt,add butter and stir continuously until chocolate melted completely.

Dip each doughnut into melted chocolate.Sprinkle white chocolate chips or other topping of your choice.
