Spicy chick peas is a simple dish which has cooked with common spices but the taste and aroma increase your appetite..
It goes well with paratha and pickles.
INSTRUCTIONS (PREPARING RECIPE STEP BY STEP WITH PHOTOS..)
Soak chick peas whole night.Discard water.In a pressure cooker add 2 cups of water,chick peas,some salt and potli bag.Cook on medium flame for 15 to 20 minutes till get 4 to 5 whistle or chick peas get soft.
Then off the gas,discard the potli bag.
Here potli is a small muslin cloth bag which has small pieces of dried amla,tea leaves(1/2 tsp),some cloves inside it.It will give nice colour and aroma to the gravy.
If you dont have amla then skip it,can only use tea leaves.
Transfer boiled chickpeas along with water into a bowl.
In a pan heat 2tsp oil,add chopped onions,garlic,ginger,cloves and fry fr 5 to 6 minutes.Then off the gas and allow to cool.Transfer them into a blender and make a smooth and fine paste.
In the same pan add again 2 tsp oil,add turmeric,chili powder on lower flame.Now add prepared paste and fry them.
Add coriander powder,garam masala into it.Fry until nice aroma comes out.
Add boiled chick peas along with water.Cook on medium flame.While cooking tap on peas lightly with a spoon or spatula,it will allow peas to soak the gravy masala.
cook for 5 minutes till gravy gets a nice consistency. Garnish with onion rings and shredded ginger before serving on table.
